Use A Dehumidifier

A dehumidifier is able to condense and collect water out of the air...before it can lead to mold and mildew growth. The water gets collected into a container that you can remove and empty. It's a simple product that makes a big difference.

Most RV owners can get by with just one dehumidifier, but if you have a large camper you may need to periodically move the dehumidifier to the other end of the RV. You will need power to run this small appliance, so be sure your camper or generator can handle it.

Take Advantage Of Ventilation

Ventilation is a key resource in preventing RV condensation. Open up vents to allow unwanted humidity to exit your camper. It's also helpful to open up the vents on the opposite sides of the RV, which will create a cross draft.

Remember to open vents when someone showers or cooks. Both of these activities can generate a high amount of moisture that can lead to condensation buildup.

Try Desiccant Crystals

These products are able to passively absorb water from the air. Options such as Damprid can help keep the humidity at an optimal level for long periods of time, such as when the camper is stored. The crystals will eventually need to be replaced, so don't forget to swap them out every so often.

Increase The Temperature

A simple strategy for preventing RV condensation is turning up the temperature. When the temperature is higher, it's harder for moisture to collect. You can either turn up the heat or avoid turning on the air conditioning, depending on the weather.

Know The Optimal Moisture Levels

Preventing RV condensation means maintaining the right moisture levels. How do you know what this is? Get a hygrometer. This is an affordable device that measures humidity in the air. A comfortable level is between 30% and 50%. As you employ the various tactics to prevent RV condensation, aim to maintain this humidity level.
