Used Toy Hauler Inspection Tips

A used toy hauler will usually cost around 30% less than its original sticker price, making it a great budget-friendly option. 

But not all models will be in good condition or a wise investment. Use the following inspection tips to help you find a quality used toy hauler.

Check the Seals

A toy hauler's silicone and rubber seals help keep water out of the RV's interior. If they are worn down or damaged, there could be expensive water damage lurking inside of the camper.

Check the Tires

Look over the tires and see if there are signs of uneven wear. This may be caused by improper weight distribution in the used toy hauler's cargo bay, but it can also indicate a structural issue with the RV.

Test the Electronics

Go throughout the used toy hauler and test everything connected to the electrical system. Plug a charger or device into every power outlet, turn on the television, test the kitchen appliances, and make sure everything is working as it should be.

Test the Water System

Turn on the various faucets, run the showerhead, and flush the toilet. Make sure the water pressure is fine, drains are not clogged, and that there are no leaks to be found.

Test the Ramp

The ramp for the cargo bay area should be able to be set up without issue. You'll also want to roll a vehicle up the ramp to make sure it holds the weight.

Inspect the Cargo Bay Area

If there are any dents in the garage separator, it could be caused by a vehicle being driven into it. Look over any hooks that are used to secure vehicles and see if there are any issues, such as oil in the slots.
